Another Way - Page Task Force Against Domestic Violence

Page Task Force Against Domestic Violence (Another Way) was organized to reduce the incidence of domestic violence in the Page area and to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault with advocacy, education, and shelter. The program operates a 10-bed shelter providing all necessities while in shelter. Also provided are legal and lay advocacy, coordinated services with DES, victim/witness services, job placement services, FEMA, WIC, JTPA, Kaibeto social services, legal aid, Tuba City social services, and others. A thrift store was opened in January of 1999 to provide operating resources to Another Way. Clothing and household items are also provided to those in need who are referred from other social services agencies.

NACASA, a rape crisis
center located in Flagstaff, opened in april of 2002. NACASA
is a safe and healing place for victims (age 16 and older) of sexual
assault to go for help and to explore their options after an assault.
Nurses and doctors, who are specially trained, are available to
provide medical/forensic care immediately following an assault.
Victim advocates are available to provide crisis intervention/counseling,
to make referrals to resources inthe community for follow-up healthcare
and long-term counseling, and to provide criminal justice advocacy.
All services are available
24 hours a day via an on-call system through Victim/Witness Services
for Coconino County (V/WS). The Sexual Assault Response Team
(SART) provides a multi-disciplinary approach to intervention with
sexual assault victims. Representatives from law enforcement,
V/WS, healthcare, mental health and the legal system can assist
with all of the needs a victim presents following a sexual assault.
NACASA is open to any law enforcement agency in Arizona including
Native American Tribal police departments.
Northland Family Help Center

Northland Family Help Center provides
shelter care and counseling for victims. A 14-bed shelter for women
and children who are victims of domestic violence provides safe
short-term residence, advocacy, counseling, and education. A separate
14-bed children’s shelter offers short-term residential care, counseling
and case management for children 0-18 who are victims of child abuse,
neglect, homelessness and other family crises. These services are
free. Individual and group treatment and advocacy is provided for
adult and child victims of sexual assault or abuse and other forms
of family/relationship violence. A batterers intervention program
includes counseling groups for family members.

Victim/Witness Services
for Coconino County (V/WS) is a community-oriented, non-profit,
non-governmental organization dedicated to delivering direct services
to victims of crimes and/or crises that occur within Coconino County.
Agency programs include:
- Victim Advocate Volunteer Program - crisis response 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week;
- Victim and Witness Advocacy Program - trained advocates guide
(and escort) victims/witnesses through the juvenile or criminal
justice systems;
- NACASA (Northern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault) - a
victim-friendly rape crisis center located in Flagstaff provides
services to adult victims of sexual assault;
- Crime Victim Compensation Program - provides financial assistance
for victims of violent crimes;
- Call-to-Protect Program - provides phones to victims of domestic
violence
- Outreach Program - makes services accessible to all county residents
and tourists/travelers;
- Community Education and Public Awareness - provides information
on crime intervention and prevention; and
- Pets, Too! - a program that boards the pets of women and children
who are battered and in a domestic violence shelter.
