Against Abuse, Inc. is a private non-profit social service agency that has been involved in issues affecting individuals and families since October 1981. The agency’s victim services consist of a domestic violence shelter and transitional house for women and their dependent children (providing individual and group counseling and support, case management and advocacy), two shelters for abused children from birth to age 18 (providing individual and group counseling, case management and advocacy) and outpatient treatment services.

Apache Junction Police Department Victim Services

The Apache Junction Police Department Victim Services Division has a cadre of specially trained individuals throughout the community who respond to crisis oriented or trauma related incidents within the City limits for the Police Department and Fire District. These individuals assist with resource and referral information providing the initial intervention to aid victims/survivors in the healing process. Program services include, but are not limited to crisis intervention, assessment of needs and emergency financial assistance. Once the victim's needs are assessed, resource and referral information is provided. Further collaboration is provided with the Pinal County Victim Services Division for resource and referral information.

Gila River Tribal Social Services

Gila River Tribal Social Services employs a Victim Assistance Specialist to work with crime victims, including children who have been sexually abused, abused or exploited elderly, women who have been victims of domestic violence or any other person who has been victimized.

The types of services provided include professional counseling (including bereavement), client advocacy services including transportation, facilitation of support groups, placement of individuals in off-reservation shelters and client referral services.

Program focus is on victim services inclusive of domestic violence, child physical and sexual abuse, and sexual assault. Program services include crisis intervention, assessment of needs, advocacy, emergency financial assistance, assistance in filing compensation claims, and referral to services. Follow up response includes supportive services and advocacy. Additionally, the program conducts workshops for local service providers, and conducts neighborhood family style workshops (platicas).
