The Arizona Coalition Against Domestic Violence was founded in 1980 as a grassroots coalition of domestic violence service providers committed to working for and with battered women to eliminate domestic violence in Arizona. The legal advocacy hotline is available statewide to any victim or survivor of domestic violence and to supportive friends/family, co-workers, and others. seeking telephone-based legal advocacy. Hotline staff provide information about Arizona’s legal systems and explain legal processes, procedures and alternatives, as well as any possible resources in the caller’s community. Hotline staff also provide domestic violence/legal advocacy-specific technical assistance to professionals working with or on behalf of victims and survivors of domestic violence.

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office of Victim Services (OVS), established in 1990, promotes justice and healing for Arizona’s crime victims and supports justice entities statewide in the administration of victims’ rights laws.

With offices in Phoenix and Tucson, OVS provides more than twenty types of services-- including legal advocacy, restitution advocacy, personal advocacy, emotional support, appropriate referrals, crisis intervention, case management, justice system and victims’ rights information, and court orientation and accompaniment—to victims of myriad types of crimes prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office. Additionally, the Section supports state, county, and municipal law enforcement, custodial, prosecutorial and corrections agencies, and courts, having duties mandated by victims’ rights laws—through the administration of a funding program and other forms of assistance that further uniformity, efficiency, and victims’ rights compliance.

Centro de Amistad

Centro de Amistad’s “I’tom Plan de Pas” is a coalition started on a volunteer basis in 1997. It meets quarterly to increase involvement, awareness, and advocacy for the victims and issues of domestic violence/sexual assault in the Indolatino community of Guadalupe and the East Valley. The program currently oversees weekly bilingual domestic violence support groups, a small volunteer safe home network, arrangements for transportation and food boxes, information and referrals, and sweat lodge ceremonies. The program sponsors a unique community education tool, the “House of Horrors” – a domestic violence exhibit permanently located in Guadalupe.

Childhelp USA

Located in central Phoenix, the Childhelp Children’s Center of Arizona opened in 1998 to offer compassionate, effective services for abused and neglected children under the age of 18 from throughout Arizona. The on-site collaboration of six public/private agencies provides services for the interview, examination, disposition, and treatment of abuse victims, as well as pursuing offender prosecutions. Partnering agencies include St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, the Phoenix Police Department Crimes Against Children Unit, Arizona Department of Economic Security, CPS, Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, and the Attorney General’s Office.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is dedicated to stopping drunk driving, supporting the victims of drunk driving crashes and reducing the incidence of underage drinking. The Arizona statewide organization serves victims in the areas of Arizona without a local MADD chapter and coordinates Community Action Teams throughout Arizona. Victim advocates provide emotional support, assistance and information to help deal with grief, loss or injury, and may be available for court attendance.

The Nation’s Missing Children Organization, Inc.

The Nation’s Missing Children Organization (NMCO) was founded to assist families and law enforcement in their search for a missing person and the prevention of abduction. NMCO is one of 39 organizations recognized by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the U.S. Department of Justice. NMCO has been working nationwide since 1994, providing support and vital services to searching families, including public safety and child identification. NMCO has distributed more than 1.75 million images of missing persons, including vinyl truck posters.
