Stepping Stones Agencies

Located in Prescott, Stepping Stones serves women and children who are victims of familial violence, sexual assault, or any type of victimization, primarily in West Yavapai County. The agency provides 24-hour phone support and stabilization, emergency housing, transitional apartments, group therapeutic program, specialized advocacy and case management services, safety planning, and ongoing supportive services beyond shelter stay.

Verde Valley Sanctuary was established in 1993 to decrease the incidence of domestic violence in the community through education and advocacy, to offer shelter to individuals and their children to enhance self determination and the right of all persons to live without fear, abuse, or oppression. VVS provides emergency shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, child care and child therapy, legal advocacy, Hispanic outreach and translation, and youth prevention programming to women and families who have experienced domestic violence. Verde Valley Sanctuary serves domestic violence victims in towns and rural areas of the Verde Valley which includes the Yavapai-Apache and Navajo Reservations.

The following services are available to victims of felonies and misdemeanors: Crisis intervention, court advocacy, information and referrals, notification of court hearings, and other services. On-call advocates can be reached on a 24-hour basis by contacting law enforcement in the victim’s jurisdiction.
Yavapai Family Advocacy Center

The Yavapai Family Advocacy Center opened its doors in 2000 to reduce trauma to victims of family violence and sexual assault through a multi-agency team approach. The center is a project of Prevent Child Abuse, Inc., a private, non-profit organization founded in 1996. The center serves victims of child abuse, child sexual abuse, sexual assault, domestic violence and vulnerable adult abuse in Yavapai County. Referrals to the center are made by the 12 law enforcement agencies in the county as well as Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services. Services at the center include forensic medical examinations, forensic videotaped interviews, investigation, prosecution, crisis counseling, and victim advocacy
